Roland has been an Elder at Southern Hills since 2004. He and his wife Betty are very interested in missions. Their son Archie and his family were on the mission field for several years.
Scott was appointed to the eldership in November 2016. He had served as a deacon at Southern Hills since June 2014, having previously served as a deacon in Naperville, IL. After several years as a healthcare executive, Scott currently performs consulting services for growing healthcare companies around the country in the areas of strategy development and implementation, outsourced executive management, corporate development and process improvement. He and his wife Abby were married in 1997 and have three children. Scott’s primary area of responsibility is in organizing and developing Southern Hills’ Families Ministry. Scott’s heart for families and children has led him to active involvement with the Central Texas Children’s Home as well as Board membership of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin Area.
Don was born in Brazos County in 1947 and moved to Austin 5 years later. He and his family were longtime members of University Avenue congregation in Austin. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1970 with a degree in Range Science, and earned a BS in Veterinary Medicine and the DVM degree in 1974 and 1975, respectively. Don has been a mixed animal practitioner and reproduction specialist in cattle with years of embryo transfer practice in 3 states. He is currently owner & President of Austin Animal Clinic, Inc. Don has worked for years in World Bible School, and has helped with both Medina and Central Texas Children’s Homes. Don married Cathy Gail Leese in 1969, and they have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
Chuck has served as an elder at Southern Hills since May, 2004. He also served as a deacon, both at Southern Hills and Buda/Kyle church of Christ. Chuck served 7 years in the Air Force and has been a State Farm agent for 30 years. He and his wife, Elizabeth, grew up in North Carolina and have been married for 40 years. They have two sons and two grandsons. They both graduated from the University of Texas, Elizabeth with a Masters degree in education and Chuck with a BBA in Insurance. Chuck has been on two mission trips to India, and one mission trip to Malawi.
Powell was appointed to the eldership in November 2016. He previously served as minister, prison minister and prison chaplain during 1983 to 1999 in Missouri, Kansas, and Texas. He earned the Master of Science in Biblical and Related Studies, Abilene Christian University, in 1994. Employed in computer software support since 1999, he resides in Buda TX, with wife Kim, occasional resident son & daughter Jared and Kayla, and Frannie the dog. Allen was born in Yoakum, TX, and lived there for 13 years. He’s also lived 29 yrs in Houston, 8 yrs in Denver, Co, 14 yrs in Columbia, Tennessee and moved to Kyle in 2012. He and Debra married in 1970. They have 3 children and 8 grandchildren, all in New Braunfels and Kyle. Allen is retired from Texaco, and currently serves as an Instructional Aide at Negley Elementary in Kyle. He has previous experience as an elder and mission trips to Tobago, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
Don has been an Elder at Southern Hills since 1999. He has also served as an elder in two other congregations prior to coming to Southern Hills. Don worked for the IRS for 37 years and retired in 1997, and started a second career as the District Manager for a utility company and retired from that position in 2009. He and his wife, Vonnie, have been married for 53 years. They met while Don was in college and were married soon after graduation. They have 4 children, two in Austin, and two in Atlanta. Don serves on the Board of Directors for Central Texas Children’s Home and is the Southern Hills coordinator for World Bible School (WBS).
